#11 Oklahoma St. (6-2) @ #22 West Virginia (5-2)

Where: Milan Puskar Stadium, Morgantown, WV

Time: 12 PM ET, on ABC

Line: Oklahoma St. -7.5

After a scare in Austin last week where the Cowboys were held to just 13 points and 282 yards through the air, they’ll attempt to keep the big 12 championship game hopes alive with a travel to Morgantown. The scrappy Mountaineers have won 4 of last 5 where Will Grier averages 348.8 yards and 4 touchdowns a game.

Aaron: Oklahoma St. Andrew: Oklahoma St.

#4 TCU (7-0) @ #25 Iowa St. (5-2)

Where: Jake Trice Stadium, Ames, IA

Time: 3:30 PM ET, on ABC/ ESPN 2

Line: TCU -6.5

Could the Cyclones do it again? The most surprising team in the Big 12 putting up 38 per game on offense. The challenge will be stopping the TCU offense, led by Kenny Hill. Hill has a ton of weapons and will use all of them on Saturday in order to avoid an upset in Ames.

Aaron: TCU          Andrew: TCU

#14 NC State (6-1) @ #9 Notre Dame (6-1)

Where: Notre Dame Stadium, Notre Dame, IN

Time: 3:30 PM ET, on NBC

Line: Notre Dame -7.5

One of the more intriguing but potentially overlooked games this week. Notre Dame has seemed to turn it around after a disappointing 2016 season. While NC State is an exciting ACC team that is looking to prove their worth is a tough conference. Neither team was expected to be in this position at the beginning of the year, it will be fun to see who keeps the momentum rolling.

Aaron: Notre Dame         Andrew: Notre Dame

UCLA (4-3) @ #12 Washington (6-1)

Where: Husky Stadium, Seattle, WA

Time: 3:30 PM ET, on ABC/ ESPN 2

Line: Washington -18

One of the few Pac 12 schools with a shot at the final 4 still. After a loss 2 weeks ago to Arizona St. The Huskies are looking for not only a confidence builder but a statement win in a big conference game. A win this week would be massive for Washington heading down the final stretch of the season.

Aaron: Washington Andrew: Washington

#3 Georgia (7-0) Vs. Florida (3-3)

Where: Everbank field, Jacksonville, FL

Time: 3:30 PM ET, on CBS

Line: Georgia -13.5

Boy we are in for a doozie in this SEC matchup, a total dogfight every year and Florida has nothing to lose this go around. On the other side, this is Georgia’s big test to see if they can make a run at the SEC title game. Georgia is better on both sides of the ball but in a rivalry game like this some of that goes out the door, an interesting key will be to see how QB Jake Fromm plays in this environment.

Aaron: Georgia Andrew: Georgia

#2 Penn St. (7-0) @ #6 Ohio St. (6-1)

Where: Ohio Stadium, Columbus, OH

Time: 3:30 PM ET, on FOX

Line: Ohio St. -6.5

The Absolute biggest game of the week and maybe year not including conference championships. After rolling through Michigan a week ago, the Nittany Lions are off to Columbus for a Big 10 showdown with big implications. Ohio St. has looked incredibly different since the embarrassing loss week 2 against OU. They’ll need to stop Saquon Barkley if they want to have any chance.

Aaron: Penn St.          Andrew: Penn St.

Houston (4-3) @ #17 USF (7-0)

Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL

Time: 3:45 PM Et, on ESPNU

Line: USF -10.5

Quietly, the AAC has put together a competitive group of football teams, this matchup in Tampa could be inline for potential upset when the Cougars meet the Bulls. USF has more talent on both sides of the ball but are suspect in certain aspects. You might see Ed Oliver in the backfield a ton, if he gets the defense going enough to stop Quinton Flowers, Houston can score enough to make it interesting.

Aaron: USF           Andrew: USF

Mississippi St. (5-2) @ Texas A&M (5-2)

Where: Kyle Field, College Station, TX

Time: 7:15 PM ET, on ESPN

Line: Mississippi St. -1

Big SEC standing implications in this one as A&M sits a game over the Bulldogs in SEC play and has a chance to bury them this week. The aggies struggle mightily in pass defense, Nick Fitzpatrick has had a problem with giving the ball away with 7 interceptions on the year. If Mississippi St. can limit turnovers, this could be a route.

Aaron: Mississippi St. Andrew: Mississippi St.

Texas Tech (4-3) @ #10 Oklahoma (6-1)

Where: Memorial Stadium, Norman, OK

Time: 8 PM ET, on FOX

Line: Oklahoma -20

Oklahoma is still trying to stay alive in the College football playoff picture with just the one stunning upset at home against a now ranked Iowa State team. Baker Mayfield and the sooners have what it takes to run the table in the Big 12 but its all in front of them, they control their own destiny with key matchups against Oklahoma St. TCU, and West Virginia.

Aaron: Oklahoma Andrew: Oklahoma

Georgia Tech (4-2) @ #2 Clemson (6-1)

Where: Memorial Stadium, Clemson, SC

Time: 8 PM ET, on ABC

Line: Clemson -14

Kind of tricky game for Clemson at home versus the Yellow Jackets and their confusing triple option offense. I can never see anyone completely shutting down the option but Clemson’s defense is one that could

slow it down as good as anyone. The tough part about this game will be Tech’s defense against Kelly Bryant and Clemson’s offense.

Aaron: Clemson          Andrew: Clemson

Cover Picks

Aaron: This should be a tough ACC matchup in South Carolina Saturday night. It’s never an easy match up against the triple option attack, let alone preparing for it during the week. Clemson’s defense is top tier in the ACC but Georgia Tech will keep this one close.

Andrew: Interesting game with Josh Rosen and the Bruins on the road. Washington is coming off a bye after losing at Arizona St. the week before. The Huskies should be pretty focused but Rosen’s offense is averaging 35 points over their last 3 games.

CFB Picks update through week 5

Andrew: 44 correct, 12 incorrect

Aaron: 41 correct, 15 incorrect

#17 Louisville @ #24 NC State

Where: Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh, NC

When: 7:00 PM on ESPN

Line: LOU -3.5

Louisville hasn’t started their season exactly as they wanted. After their blowout loss to Clemson, they are now stuck at the #17 ranking. A win over 24th ranked NC State would help their campaign immensely. On NC State’s side, they welcome the Cardinals as the home dogs. With them barely having a top 25 ranking, this win would be a big statement to the AP committee.

Andrew: Louisville

Aaron: Louisville

SB Nation

#12 Auburn Vs. Ole Miss

Where: Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn, AL

When: 11:00 AM on SECN

Line: AUB -21.5

Ole Miss had a very distracting off season with all of the allegations surrounding Hugh Freeze and their program. Since then, Freeze has been fired and the Rebels are .500 on the season at 2-2. They now face what could be a major SEC road win as they travel to take on #12 Auburn.

Andrew: Auburn

Aaron: Auburn

#5 Georgia @ Vanderbilt

Where: Vanderbilt Stadium, Nashville, TN

When: 11:00 AM on ESPN

Line: UGA -17.5

Georgia is the real deal. Their new QB, Jake Fromm, and experienced running back, Nick Chub, have been leading this high-powered offense to constant success. Now after a 5-0 start, the Bulldogs have everyone thinking they are legit playoff and title contenders. However, until we get to see them play more powerful teams later in the year, they have to get big statement wins against teams like Vanderbilt this week.

Andrew: Georgia

Aaron: Georgia

The Red and Black

#8 TCU Vs. #23 West Virginia

Where: Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth, TX

When: 2:30 PM on FS1

Line: TCU -12.5

TCU is one of the more surprisingly good teams of the 2017-18 season. Coming in at 4-0 they welcome the Mountaineers to town. Along with West Virginia, College Gameday will be there, as this should be the game of the week.

Andrew: TCU

Aaron: TCU

Blue Gold Sports

#13 Miami @ FSU

Where: Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, FL

When: 2:30 PM on ESPN

Line: Miami -3.0

The only word to describe FSU’s season thus far is confusing. The year began with a season-ending injury to their starting QB, Deondre Francois. Now, the Seminoles sit with a depressing 1-2 record as the Hurricanes come to campus. Miami has been very impressive at 3-0, and last week even had to give QB Malik Rosier his first start against previously undefeated Duke. He lit it up for 820 yards and 8 TD’s in Durham, and now Miami looks to make FSU’s season just a little bit worse.

Andrew: Miami

Aaron: Miami

#7 Michigan Vs. MSU

Where: Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI

When: 6:30 PM on ABC

Line: MICH -10.5

Week 6 of the college football stadium brings us a great rivalry as Michigan State goes on the road to face Jim Harbaugh and Michigan. This in-state rivalry always seems to deliver from a viewer’s perspective and, although Michigan State isn’t as good as they usually are this year, it is still a rivalry game and anything can happen. With that being said, if you’re home at 6:30 on Saturday make sure to turn the channel to ABC and watch a game full of amazing atmosphere in this BIG 10 matchup.

Andrew: Michigan

Aaron: Michigan State

Big Ten Network

#11 WSU @ Oregon

Where: Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR

When: 7:00 PM on FOX

Line: ORE -1.5

This is one of the more puzzling games of this season. WSU comes into Eugene at 5-0, and just off a huge win over #5 USC. However, they’re still underdogs. I’m not sure what else they can do to be favored against unranked teams. whether they’re on the road or not. With that being said though, look for the Cougars to take this game against Oregon personally and make a real statement to the committee on why they should be a top 10 team.

Andrew: WSU

Aaron: WSU

#20 Utah Vs. Stanford

Where: Rice-Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City, UT

When: 9:15 PM on FS1

Line: STAN -6.0

Another perplexing line in week 6 comes to us in this PAC 12 matchup. Undefeated, and 20th ranked, Utah is at home against unranked and 3-2 Stanford, yet they’re six-point underdogs. How does that make any sense at all? Utah needs to come out with a chip on their shoulder, and on the other side of the ball Stanford needs to show just why they’re favored.

Andrew: Utah

Aaron: Stanford

The Salt Lake Tribune

#3 Oklahoma Vs. Iowa State

Where: Memorial Stadium, Norman, OK

When: 11:00 AM on FOX

Line: OKLA -28.0

The undefeated and title contending Sooners welcome Iowa State to town in a BIG 12 matchup this week. Baker Mayfield looks to continue his dominant Heisman campaign, but the Cyclones would like nothing more than spoil their season.

Andrew: Oklahoma

Aaron: Oklahoma

Cover Picks

Andrew: I’m taking WSU to cover their spread this week as they’re +1.5 to Oregon this week. I not only expect them to cover that spread; but, I expect them to win the game.

Aaron: I’m taking Maryland to cover the spread this week as they come in as 30.5 point underdogs against 10th ranked Ohio State.

 Texas (1-2) @ Iowa St. (2-1)

Where: Jake Trice Stadium, Ames, IA

Time: 8 PM ET, on ESPN

Line: Texas -6.5

Playing in Ames for the first time since the Cyclones held the Longhorns to a meager 204 yards of total offense en route to a 24-0 shellacking. This is a big game for both teams to open up conference play as they look to compete in Big 12 play.

Aaron: Texas                Andrew: Texas

Friday, September 29, 2017

 #14 Miami (2-0) @ Duke (4-0)

Where: Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham, NC

Time: 7 PM ET, on ESPN

Line: Miami -6.5

Who doesn’t love potential trap games? We’ll find out if Duke is for real, and if Miami prove they can hang with the big boys in the ACC. Both teams averaging over 40 points per game, this game will be nothing less than an exciting shootout.

Aaron: Miami          Andrew: Duke

#5 USC (4-0) @ 16 Washington St. (4-0)

Where: Martin Stadium, Pullman, WA

Time: 10:30 PM, on ESPN

Line: USC -3.5

What most believe is the toughest road game for the Trojans, they’ll get to take on Luke Faulk and the high octane offense from Washington St. Sam Darnold has been a little turnover happy, early this year throwing 7 INT’s in just 4 games, he’ll need to take care of the rock in order to limit the cougars offensive possessions.

Aaron: USC         Andrew: USC

Saturday, September 30, 2017

 Florida St. (0-2) @ Wake Forest (4-0)

Where: BB&T Stadium, Winston-Salem, NC

Time: 3:30 PM ET, on ABC

Line: Florida St. -7.5

To the average eye, this may not look like much of an intriguing matchup. However, the now unranked Seminoles are 0-2 for the 1st time since 1989. Playing with a true freshman QB that will be making just his 2nd career start saturday. The undefeated Demon Deacons are very balanced on offense, averaging over 215 yards on the ground and through the air. While the defense may struggle, if they follow the print NC state laid out a week ago, they have a shot.

Aaron: Wake Forest          Andrew: Florida St.

#24 Mississippi St. (3-1) @ #13 Auburn (3-1)

Where: Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn, AL

Time: 6 PM ET, on ESPN

Line: Auburn -9

After being embarrassed a week ago in Athens, the Bulldogs fell 7 spots in the ranking, and it won’t get any easier this week with Auburn. After being held to just 117 yards, and 6 points of offense 3 weeks ago against Clemson, the Tigers have rebounded to combine for 996 yards and 75 points.

Aaron: Auburn           Andrew: Mississippi St.

South Carolina (3-1) @ Texas A&M (3-1)

Where: Kyle Field, College Station, TX

Time: 7:30 PM ET, on SEC Network

Line: Texas A&M -9.5

This ought to be a high scoring game—not because of the flawless offense, but the atrocious defense. Both teams give up over 400 yards per game, and this game will be no different. A&M had a big win in OT last week to start off SEC play on a good note. Freshman QB Kellen Mond has struggled only completing 50% of his passes. Luckily Trayveon Williams and Keith Ford pick up the slack on the ground combining for 9 of A&M’s 18 touchdowns this year.

Aaron: Texas A&M Andrew: South Carolina

Memphis (3-0) @ UCF (2-0)

Where: Spectrum Stadium, Orlando, FL

Time: 7 PM ET, ESPN2

Line: UCF -4

Both teams have an impressive win this year and will try to keep it going again in week 4. Memphis shocked UCLA at home 2 weeks ago as Anthony Miller had 9 catches for 185 yards and 2 TD’s. As for UCF, the Golden Knights went into College Park and picked apart what was an undefeated Maryland team. This could end up being a track meet, with both teams averaging 43 plus points per game, but in a conference game its always a toss up.

Aaron: UCF   Andrew: Memphis

#2 Clemson (4-0) @ #12 Virginia Tech (4-0)

Where: Lane Stadium, Blacksburg, VA

Time: 8 PM ET, on ABC

Line: Clemson -7

Easily the most Intriguing matchup this week, the Clemson Tigers head to Blacksburg for a date with the Hokies. Virginia Tech QB Josh Jackson has been awfully impressive thus far, throwing for 1127 passing yards, with 11 TD’s, and just 1 INT. Clemson’s defense has proven to be stingy, most will remember 2 weeks ago when they held reigning heisman winner to a 50% completion rating, and just 1 TD.

Aaron: Clemson           Andrew: Clemson

#15 Oklahoma St. (3-1) @ Texas Tech (3-0)

Where: Jones AT&T Stadium, Lubbock, TX

Time: 8 PM ET, on FOX

Line: Oklahoma St. -9.5

Another potential shootout in the Big 12. Oklahoma St. will try to rebound after stumbling against TCU a week ago while Texas Tech beat Houston on the road. Both teams average over 500 yards on offense per game while allowing 360 plus, yikes. 1st to 50 wins?

Aaron: Oklahoma St.          Andrew: Oklahoma St.

Cal (3-1) @ Oregon (3-1)

Where: Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR

Time: 10:30 PM ET, on FS1

Line: Oregon -13.5

Both coming off losses to start off 0-1 in Pac 12 play, the Ducks and Bears square off in Eugene trying to get back to .500. Cal QB Ross Bowers will have to limit the turnovers, as he’s thrown more INT’s than TD’s this year, if Cal wants to have any shot on the road Saturday.

Aaron: Oregon                Andrew: Cal

Cover Picks

Aaron: Wake Forest +7.5 at home against Florida St. who is struggling to say the least, if the Deacons can get into the endzone they’ll cover.

Andrew: The undefeated Blue Devils +6.5 at home with Miami coming to Durham, rolling on big momentum from the win against rival North Carolina will carry over, duke won’t just cover, they’ll upset the Hurricanes.

Thursday September 21st

Los Angeles Rams Vs San Francisco 49ers

Levi Stadium, Santa Clara

Brian Hoyer has not thrown a touchdown yet this season, the 49ers have been a disaster falling to 0-2. This game is two teams who are likely not to make the playoffs, though the Rams have scored a combined 66 points in their first two games they sit 1-1. They could win this one by a large margin, did someone say the Rams could be 2-1 and score 90 points or more in their first three games?

Sunday September 24th

Baltimore Ravens Vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Wembley Stadium, London

The first game this season played overseas, this could be a blow out. The Jags defense looked really good in week one but could not mimic the defense intensity in week two, losing 37-16 to the Titans at home. The Ravens pulled out another win advancing to 2-0, they could be one team that is a sleeper this year in the AFC, Baltimore starts the season 3-0.

Denver Broncos Vs. Buffalo Bills

New Era Field, Buffalo

The Broncos defense silenced the potent offense of the Dallas Cowboys holding Ezekiel Elliott to a total of 8 yards on the ground. The Bills lost in a field goal only game to the Panthers 9-3. The Broncos defense could take them deep into the playoffs this year, Trevor Siemian is the next Peyton Manning? Broncos move on to 3-0.

Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Chicago Bears

Soldier Field, Chicago

Le’Veon Bell has yet to score a touchdown this season and the Steelers are 2-0, this is scary. The Bears got torn apart last week against Mike Evans and the Bucs, there is no telling how ugly this one could get against the best receiver in the league, Antonio Brown. Pittsburgh moves onto 3-0 and Bell gets his first touchdown of the season.

Atlanta Falcons Vs. Detroit Lions

Ford Field, Detroit

The Lions are 2-0, yes check the numbers, they are 2-0. There was not much expectation for the Lions this season but they beat the Giants on the road last week and will have another tough matchup at home against the Falcons. The Falcons got their groove back in week two defeating the Green Bay Packers at home 34-23. This one is going to be a shootout, big days for both quarterbacks but the Falcons walk out with this one.

Cleveland Browns Vs. Indianapolis Colts

Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis

The Colts almost held on to beat the Cardinals last week, but this is a battle of two 0-2 teams. With Myles Garrett not likely to play the Colts will squeak by the Browns in a boring game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Vs. Minnesota Vikings

U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis

The Bucs hype might be real, Mike Evans looked outstanding last week. Sam Bradford suffered a non contact knee injury and is day-to-day, so his status is up in the air. With or without Bradford the Bucs will be too much for the Vikings. This will be a close one but Tampa Bay moves to 2-0.

Houston Texans Vs. New England Patriots

Gillette Stadium, Foxborough

Tom Brady is alive and well, he threw three touchdowns in the first QUARTER last week. Three. Even with Gronk going down with an injury, the Texans will be no match for Brady and company. The Patriots move on to 2-1.

Miami Dolphins Vs. New York Jets

Metlife Stadium, East Rutherford

Jay Cutler looked really good last week, new situation new him. The Jets are well the Jets, this might be your safest pick this weekend. The Dolphins take this one on the road.

New York Giants Vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia

The Giants look horrible, their offensive line couldn’t block a dog from getting to Eli Manning. This is bad, the Eagles on the other hand don’t look too bad, they could very much win this division. Odell Beckham can go off at any time but the Eagles take this one.

New Orleans Saints Vs. Carolina Panthers

Bank Of America Stadium, Charlotte

The Saints got picked apart last week and the Panthers squeezed one out. The Panthers lost Greg Olsen for the rest of the season and this could be huge to their offense and Cam Newton. This one will be a tight one but the Panthers squeeze out another win at home.

Seattle Seahawks Vs. Tennessee Titans

Nissan Stadium, Nashville

This could be a good one, the Titans bounced back from a week one loss and will be up against a tough Seattle defense. The Titans offense was rolling last week and expect them to keep rolling, they surprise the Hawks at home.

Cincinnati Bengals Vs. Green Bay Packers

Lambeau Field, Green Bay

The Red Rifle has been awful this season, the Bengals are considering signing Colin Kaepernick. The Packers lost on the road against a really good Atlanta offense but will bounce back this week against a subpar Bengals team. Packers win big at home.

Kansas City Chiefs Vs. Los Angeles Chargers

StubHub Center, Carson

Alex Smith is 2-0, Alex Smith might be the greatest quarterback of all time. Kareem Hunt might win Rookie Of The Year and….. The Chargers can’t win late in games. We all knew that though, the Chargers are bad but congratulations to Antonio Gates for breaking the NFL tightend touchdown record. The Chiefs go to 3-0, Alex Smith might win a Super Bowl.

Oakland Raiders Vs. Washington Redskins

FedEx Field, Landover

Did you see how happy Marshawn Lynch was last week? Do you really think this team is going to lose now? They might be unstoppable. The Redskins barely won against the Rams last week, the Raiders dominate them on the road, I think it’s safe to say that the Raiders are serious contenders.

Monday, September 25th

Dallas Cowboys Vs. Arizona Cardinals

U of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale

Both teams have not met expectations this year, Ezekiel Elliott might be a serious problem. Carson Palmer could be the problem for the Cardinals. This could very well be a boring Monday night game but Dallas will wreck this Cardinals team, even with the problems surrounding the organization. Cowboys win by 14+.

Week Two: NFL Predictions

Writer: Marcus Carr

If you took my advice last week, I apologize. On a good note, I survived my two picks in the survival pool and I’m sure most of you did as well.

Over the next 19 weeks, we will encounter the six months out of the year we wait for. Some call it the best time of their life, others like to call it the NFL football season. Also for the next 19 weeks, I will be providing you with picks to every matchup of the year. If you want to win your survival pool this year, you will take this advice every week. If you want to lose first round, you might also take this advice. Onto the picks for the weekend.

Thursday, September 14th

Houston Texans Vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Paul Brown Stadium

I was completely wrong about both of these teams last week but Houston has found it’s quarterback in DeShaun Watson, who lead the Texans to a touchdown on his first drive. He will be expected to start against the Bengals. The Bengals got shutout by the Ravens last weekend and will be looking to bounce back after a short week. With the Texans still looking to figure themselves out, the Bengals take this one at home.

Sunday, September 17th

Cleveland Browns Vs. Baltimore Ravens

M&T Bank Stadium

The Ravens showed up huge last week, and well the Browns are the Browns. Cleveland might have something in Kizer but the Ravens defense will overwhelm the Browns offense this week. Ravens win this one in a cake walk, most likely a shutout back to back weeks.

Buffalo Bills Vs. Carolina Panthers

Bank Of America Stadium

The Panthers cake walked the 49ers in week one, using their most recent draft pick Christian McCaffrey in a variety of ways. Cam Newton threw two touchdowns in their victory, but Tyrod Taylor threw two touchdowns of his own in the victory over the Jets. The Panthers will take this one at home in a close one, the Bills do not have enough weapons to pull this one off.

Arizona Cardinals Vs. Indianapolis Colts

Lucas Oil Stadium

The Cardinals looked really bad last week but the Colts looked even worse. The Colts are in a bad situation; Mike and Mike broke news yesterday that there is speculation Andrew Luck could want out of Indy. The Cardinals will take this one easily on the road, there won’t be much resistance from a Colts defense who gave up 46 points to the Rams offense.

Tennessee Titans Vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Everbank Field

The Jags looked like one of the best defenses in the league last week, Leonard Fournette looked like a veteran running back racking up 100 yards and a touchdown. The loss of Allen Robinson could ultimately affect Jacksonville’s offense. The Titans on the other hand dropped their first game to the Raiders who picked up right where they left off. This is going to be a good one, if Jacksonville can play defense as they did last week, they will win this one. Titans are the safe pick here though.

Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Arrowhead Stadium

Who knew that Alex Smith was the greatest quarterback ever? Kareem Hunt had 40, yes check that 40 fantasy points last week against the Patriots. The Eagles lucked out against the Redskins, where the game felt like it was only punts and turnovers. Carson Wentz showed flashes of brilliance though. The Chiefs take this one at home, everybody hold their breath… Alex Smith could be 2-0 after the Chiefs drafted Patrick Mahomes.

New England Patriots Vs. New Orleans Saints

Mercedes Benz Superdome

The Patriots were stunned last week, we heard talk of Brady not looking like himself, but when is there a year we don’t hear that? Here’s an interesting fact, the last three times the Patriots dropped their season opener they won the Super Bowl. The Saints looked awful, we saw Sam Bradford and the Vikings torch their defense. The Patriots will regroup and take this one on the road.

Minnesota Vikings Vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Heinz Field

The Vikings looked really good last week, Dalvin Cook showed out in front of Adrian Peterson. The Steelers struggled against the Browns last week; Le’Veon Bell had 10 carries for 32 yards, the holdout might have actually caught up to him. The Vikings will be playing a tougher defense and more lethal offense this week, look for the Steelers to get Bell more involved this week. Steelers win at home by 10.

Chicago Bears Vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Raymond James Stadium

We did not get to see the Bucs in action last week after the game was rescheduled, but the Bears nearly stunned the Atlanta Falcons. The game came down to a final play in the final seconds, the Bears won’t repeat this success though. Mike Evans will be too much for the Bears defense, look for the Bucs to take this one by a landslide.

New York Jets Vs. Oakland Raiders

Oakland Coliseum

Marshawn Lynch has been rejuvenated, Derek Carr picked up where he left off, and all of a sudden it looks like the Raiders could be Super Bowl contenders again. The Jets looked, well like the Jets. The Raiders will run and pass all over this Jets defense look for this one to be a blowout.

Miami Dolphins Vs. Los Angeles Chargers

StubHub Center

The Chargers were the Chargers on Monday Night Football, it was almost as bad as the commentary team. The Chargers were down 17 going into the 4th quarter, lead a serge and came within a field goal, then icing the kicker finally worked. Younghoe Koo’s field goal was blocked as time expired, if we are being honest I just wanted to say his name in this recap. The Dolphins game got rescheduled because of weather conditions, this could be a surprisingly good offense this year. The Chargers aren’t good late in games but they squeeze this one out and Antonio Gates breaks Tony Gonzalez’ touchdown record.

Dallas Cowboys Vs. Denver Broncos

Sports Authority Field at Mile High

The Broncos held on for dear life last week, the quarterback situation still isn’t ideal in Denver. The Cowboys should only get better from here, with Zeke likely not to serve his suspension this year the Cowboys could be in prime position to compete for a Super Bowl this year. One of the best offenses against one of the best defenses, but the Broncos weakness is the run game where the Cowboys thrive. Look for Zeke to have a big day, Cowboys move to 2-0.

San Francisco 49ers Vs. Seattle Seahawks

CenturyLink Field

This should be the game you pick for your survival pool, the Seahawks should cakewalk the 49ers. There isn’t much that is great about the 49ers offense and Seattle is still one of the best defenses. The Seahawks win big this week at home.

Green Bay Packers Vs. Atlanta Falcons

Mercedes Benz Stadium

If the Falcons didn’t play last week this would have been an interesting matchup, but the Falcons nearly lost to the Chicago Bears who are without a receiving corps. Aaron Rodgers is still the best quarterback in the NFL, regardless of what Alex Smith did last week. The Falcons could hang around for most of the game but the Packers will advance to 2-0.

Monday September 18th

Detroit Lions Vs. New York Giants

MetLife Stadium

There is life in Detroit, Matt Stafford and company pulled one out against the Cardinals putting up 35 points on the Arizona defense. The Giants looked like a mess without Odell Beckham Jr. and he still might not be able to fix their problems. It was also reported he had a dance battle with Russell Westbrook while having the sprained ankle, too bad there is no video of the action. The Detroit Lions sneak by the Giants.

Be sure to check back next week for week three picks, hopefully I will lead you to victory in your survival pools.

Over the next nineteen weeks we will encounter the six months out of the year we wait for. Some call it the best time of their life, others like to call it the NFL football season. For the next nineteen weeks, I will be providing you with picks to every matchup of the year. If you want to win your survival pool this year, you will take this advice every week. If you want to lose first round, you might also take this advice.

Thursday, September 7th

Kansas City Chiefs Vs. New England Patriots

Gillette Stadium, Foxborough

The Patriots will take the first matchup of the 2017-2018 season against Andy Reid and company. The Patriots have a solid chance of going undefeated this season, and they could rest their starters the last four games for the season. Andy Reid and company will be looking to gain revenge from the 2016 AFC Divisional Round oss with a newly remodeled team. Pats by a landslide.

Sunday, September 10th

New York Jets Vs. Buffalo Bills

New Era Field, Buffalo

With the Bills recently going separate ways with potential star wide receiver, Sammy Watkins, the Bills will have to heavily depend on LeSean McCoy on offense. The Jets are not very good on either side of the ball this year, Brandon Marshall is in New York but with the Giants, even though he thinks Ryan Fitzpatrick is better than Eli Manning. LeSean McCoy and the Bills will run all over the Jets.

Atlanta Falcons Vs. Chicago Bears

Soldier Field, Chicago

Matt Ryan and Julio Jones will be looking to bounce back from the 28-3 comeback loss in Super Bowl 51. Julio Jones will again be one of the best receivers in the NFL this season, but it will be interesting with new offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian calling the plays. The Bears are in the midst of a rebuild after parting ways with Jay Cutler this offseason. Falcons win by 14+.

Baltimore Ravens Vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati

With Jeremy Hill having a subpar 2016 campaign and going down with an injury, the Red Rifle, Andy Dalton, will look to bounce back by feeding former OU running back Joe Mixon and dropping bombs to AJ Green. The Ravens will be in for a shootout with the Bengals. The Ref Rifle and the Bengals pull one off at home.

Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Cleveland Browns

FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland

Le’Veon Bell’s holdout didn’t last very long. He will be re-joining an already loaded offense which just got Martavis Bryant back from suspension. The Cleveland Browns don’t have much working for them outside of Myles Garrett and Isaiah Crowell; the Pittsburgh Steelers could make this one ugly. Look for Big Ben, Bell and Brown to all have big days for the Steelers.

Arizona Cardinals Vs. Detroit Lions

Ford Field, Detroit

Matthew Stafford is making more money than any player in the NFL. Yes you read that right. 5 years, $135M. For the Detroit Lions, there hasn’t been much outside of Stafford since Megatron retired other than false hope for Ameer Abdullah. Arizona brings back an above-average defense and one of the best running backs in the NFL, David Johnson. Look for their defense turn to easy offense. David Johnson and the Cardinals cake walk against the Lions.

Jacksonville Jaguars Vs. Houston Texans

NRG Stadium, Houston

With Blake Bortles still conducting the Jags offense, things aren’t expected to be very successful this season. Their defense could be stellar being so young and developing. The added workhorse running back, Leonard Fournette, through the draft this year, but that alone won’t be enough against one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. The Houston Texans have their own quarterback problems this year but are hopeful Lamar Miller and DeAndre Hopkins can help develop former National Champion, DeShaun Watson. Houston’s defense doesn’t let the Jags breathe this week and win easily.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Vs. Miami Dolphins

Hard Rock Stadium, Miami

Jay Cutler is now running things in Miami, and with his new environment, the Dolphins’ offense could be reinvented. Devante Parker and Jarvis Landry could have huge years due to the new quarterback situation, but that doesn’t take away that the Bucs are bringing back a young quarterback-receiver duo in Jameis Winston and Mike Evans. This is one matchup to be monitoring over the weekend; it could be a fun one. The Bucs win after it comes down to the wire, and Mike Evans has a big reason they win this one.

Oakland Raiders Vs. Tennessee Titans

Nissan Stadium, Nashville

The dual between two young quarterbacks, both bouncing back from season-ending injuries. The Oakland Raiders were promising last year until Derek Carr went down, with a stellar offensive line and Armani Cooper as the lead receiver. The Titans look to develop Mariota even more while he has shown flashes of eliteness. Oakland Raiders offense will be too potent for the Titans’ defense in this one.

Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Washington Redskins

FedEx Field, Landover

An NFC East divisional matchup, Carson Wentz now has Alshon Jeffery to throw to while Kirk Cousins has the jack of all trades, Terrelle Pryor, to throw to. This could end in a shootout with both teams having subpar defenses. Carson Wentz is set for a big year this season, and Kirk Cousins still has something to prove after his regression last season. Eagles take one on the road and win by 3.

Indianapolis Colts Vs. Los Angeles Rams

Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles

With Andrew Luck sitting in week one, the Colts will be in trouble this year with no timetable of return for Luck. The Los Angeles Rams recently added wide receiver, Sammy Watkins. They will have time to get in free reps against the lack lustered Colts defense. The Colts’ defense could have Jared Goff looking like an MVP candidate after this one. Todd Gurley will break loose in this one. But the Rams are the Rams and could blow this. Rams win by 7 at their first home game.

Seattle Seahawks Vs. Green Bay Packers

Lambeau Field, Green Bay

This could be the matchup of the week: Aaron Rodgers vs the stingy Seahawks defense. We know what both are capable of doing. Rodgers torched the Seattle defense last time they met, throwing 3 touchdowns on 246 yards, winning 38-10. We could see something very similar to that this week, where Jordy Nelson will be joining the Packers after missing all of the 2016 season. Packers win big at home.

Carolina Panthers Vs. San Francisco 49ers

Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara

The 49ers are a wreck top to bottom, and their only hope this season is Carlos Hyde having a season like last year. The Panthers have had their own problems since letting Josh Norman walk- they went 6-10 last season. Cam Newton and company could have a nice day against a subpar 49ers defense. Panthers should be a safe pick this week.

New York Giants Vs. Dallas Cowboys

AT&T Stadium, Arlington

This could very much be the NFC East Championship game come playoff time. Ezekiel Elliot will be good to play on Sunday but will be suspended from weeks 2-7. Odell Beckham Jr. is questionable for the game with an ankle injury but he will likely start. The Cowboys will seek revenge after their 2016 week 1 loss to the Giants where Terrance Williams blew it for them. Cowboys win this one in a shootout.

Monday, September 11th

New Orleans Saints Vs. Minnesota Vikings

U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis

Drew Brees lost Brandin Cooks this year but always produces. The Vikings will look to unlock Dalvin Cook this year to turn around their past seasons. This could be a boring Monday night game to start where The Saints take this one on the road.

Los Angeles Chargers Vs. Denver Broncos

Sports Authority Field at Mile High, Denver

The Chargers added another receiver, Mike Williams, this year to join Keenan Allen and Tyrell Williams, with Hunter Henry to take over the tight end position. It looks like the Chargers could be legit contenders this year if their defense can figure it out. On the other hand, the Broncos’ offense hasn’t been the same since 2015. The Chargers will take this one easily in their first game being the “Los Angeles Chargers.” Never forget, San Diego. Never forget.

Aaron: Penn St.

Andrew: Penn St.

#7 Oklahoma Vs. Utep

Where: Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, Norman, OK

Time: 3:30 PM ET, on FOX

As a favorite to finish in the top 2 in the BIG 12, Oklahoma must find ways to replace the 1, 2 punch backfield of shifty Joe Mixon and the Bruising Samaje Perine, not to mention their leading receiver DeDe Westbrook. Luckily, they will return Heisman hopeful Baker Mayfield to lead the sooners in 2017.

Aaron: Oklahoma

Andrew: Oklahoma

#11 Michigan Vs. #17 Florida

Where: AT&T Stadium

Time: 3:30 PM ET, on ABC

Looking at another solid matchup in week 1, two powerhouses from power 5 conferences match up at Jerry World in Arlington. Florida will need a little more after RB Jordan Scarlett and WR Rick Wells are suspended for the season opener.

After a natural disaster in Houston the AdvoCare Texas kickoff was moved from Reliant Stadium in Houston to the Mercedes Benz Stadium in New Orleans. After losing Taysom Hill in 2016 BYU won game 1 of the season last Saturday against Portland St. They will have their hands full with LSU being not only much more talented, but essentially playing in their backyard.

Aaron: LSU

Andrew: LSU

#15 Georgia Vs. Appalachian St.

Where: Sanford Stadium, Athens, GA

Time: 6:15 PM ET, on ESPN

Line: Georgia -14

10 years and 1 day ago, Appalachian St. shocked the world as they marched into Ann Arbor and stunned the Wolverines in a 34-32 victory over the nationally 5th ranked team in the country. They come into Athens only a 14-point dog, could history repeat itself? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Aaron: Georgia

Andrew: Georgia

#16 Louisville Vs. Purdue

Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN

Time: 7:30 PM ET, on FOX

Line: Louisville -25

Reigning Heisman trophy winner Lamar Jackson and the Louisville Cardinals aim to prove their dominance after scuffling with 3 straight losses to end the 2016 season. Lamar Jackson isn’t the favorite to win the Heisman but he could prove he is a force to be reckoning with if he can have a strong outing against Purdue.

Aaron: Louisville

Andrew: Louisville

#18 Miami Vs. Bethune Cookman

Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, FL

Time: 12:30 PM ET, on ACC Network

Line: N/A

Finishing the year winning 4 of 5, Bethune Cookman isn’t the worst FCS team Miami could be playing, but I expect Mark Richt to have his hurricanes ready. Miami returns RB Mark Walton who finished top 5 in the ACC with 1117 yards last season.

Aaron: Miami

Andrew: Miami

#19 USF Vs. Stony Brook

Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL

Time: 4 PM ET, on ESPN3

Line: N/A

Charlie Strong in his 1st year at USF started out on a high note as the Bulls smacked San Jose St. by 20. USF QB Quinton Flowers completed less than 50% of his passes and still managed to throw for over 200 yards and 2 TD’s. expect him to be much sharper against lesser competition this week.

Aaron: USF

Andrew: USF

#20 Kansas St. Vs. Central Arkansas

Where: Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Manhattan, KS

Time: 7:10 PM ET, on ESPN3

Line: N/A

The disciplined Wildcats should not be alarmed with central Arkansas coming to town, the bears are just 0-5 against FBS schools since 2011. Jesse Ertz and the ground and pound run game should put Central Arkansas away early.

Aaron: Kansas State

Andrew: Kansas State

#23 Texas Vs. Maryland

Where: DKR Memorial Stadium, Austin, TX

Time: 12 PM ET, on FS1

Line: Texas -19

The Tom Herman ERA officially will begin in Austin come noon eastern on Saturday, Shane Buechele and the longhorns will look to bounce back from an embarrassing 5-7 season last year. Moving on from Charlie Strong, Texas fans and boosters have high hopes for Herman and the horns in 2017.

Aaron: Texas

Andrew: Texas

#24 Washington St. Vs Montana

Where: Martin Stadium, Pullman, WA

Time: 10:30 PM ET, on FS1

Line: N/A

Mike Leach and his air raid return for another year of cougar football. Led by QB Luke Falk, Washington St. will throw the ball all over the lot and try to score a lot of points. The late start and some touchdowns from Falk earl against one of the lesser FCS schools, could have the ratings falling towards the end of the night.

Aaron: Washington St.

Andrew: Washington St.

Sunday September 3, 2017

One of our favorite matchups of the weekend will take place Sunday night between the BIG 12 and ACC in the battle for the Black Diamond Trophy. Will Grier has found a new home, again, in Morgantown, and will look to finally prove that he can consistently play football at the college level.

Aaron: West Virginia

Andrew: Virginia Tech

Monday September 4, 2017

#25 Tennessee Vs. Georgia Tech

Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA

Time: 8 PM ET, on ESPN

Line: Tennessee -3

The upset alert will come on the final game of the weekend as Tennessee and Georgia Tech throw down at Mercedes-Benz stadium, losing Alvin Kamara and Josh Dobbs will really hurt the Vols early as they search for a new identity, then also having to prepare for the triple option could be a nightmare in the making.

Aaron: Georgia Tech
