For the last month the LeBron haters have been more and more arrogant of the poor play. The Cavaliers are playing defense with their eyes closed and making mediocre teams look like contenders. Hours before the trade deadline LeBron hits a buzzer beater off of an inbound pass from Jeff Green with all smiles in Cleveland they quickly wasted no time with the trade deadline upon us.
The Cavs have completely restructured the roster and are ready to reload after the All-Star Break. Starting it off by sending Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye to the Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance they added a young athletic playmaker at the Point Guard position and Nance at the four spot.
- Lakers receive: Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye
- Cavs receive: Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr.
That is just the beginning as reports started flying out that Cavs initiated a second trade this time involving three teams. The dealt Derrick Rose, Jae Crowder, and Iman Shumpert with Rose and Crowder going to the Jazz. Joe Johnson is getting sent to the Kings along with Shumpert and Rodney Hood and George Hill to the Cavs who (Hill) they’ve been in talks with for a good while now.
- Jazz receive: Jae Crowder, Derrick Rose
- Kings receive: Joe Johnson, Iman Shumpert, 2020 second-round Heat draft pick (via Cavs)
- Cavs receive: Rodney Hood, George Hill
The Cavs also parted ways with Dwayne Wade dealing him back to his original team in Miami for a heavily protected 2nd round draft pick. With all of these moves being made I look for the Cavs to possibly make one more big move before the deadline is up. They are going to need all they can get if they want to make It back to the NBA Finals.
With the Lakers being heavily involved in the trades they have cleared up cap space to now go after LeBron and Paul George in the offseason. Something to keep your eye on.
