Oscar Nominations Pt 1

With the Grammy’s wrapped up, this got me excited for my favorite award show; The Oscars. I looked over the Oscar list time and time again. After hours of analyzing here’s the first part of my list of the 2018 Oscar Winners.

  • Best Picture: Dunkirk

As much as I want Get Out to receive this award this probably won’t happen. I decided to go with Dunkirk because of the vivid depiction of what our soldiers went through during World War II.

  • Best Director: Steven Spielberg :The Post

I chose Spielberg because The Post was a very-well executed movie. The story of a paper deciding to publish the truth no matter the cost was amazing. Also selection of actors couldn’t have been a better pick for these roles.

  • Best Actor: Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out)

Despite Get Out most likely not receiving the best picture they will receive an award for best actor. Daniel Kaluuya has been acting for years. I truly believe that Get Out could be his best work. His performance was absolutely stunning.

  • Best Actress: Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water)

Without a second thought my vote is for Sally Hawkins. her portrayal of Eliza Espotio in The Shape of Water was something I had never seen before. Hawkin’s character was a mute employee who fell in love with amphibian man. This movie was very interesting to see.

  • Best Supporting Actor: Armie Hammer (Call Me by Your Name)

Hammer’s role in Call Me by Your Name was a sight to behold. This movie made question the aspect of what love truly is.

  • Best Supporting Actress: Mary J Blige (MudBound)

Even though MudBound wasn’t a big screen exclusive. This Netflix original brought out some power scenes featuring the R&B singer. Hopefully Mudbound can receive the win.See the source image

  • Best Adapted Screenplay: The Disaster Artist

We can all collectively say that The Room was so bad that it’s good. The Disaster Artist shows us what I believe is the most accurate depiction of what Tommy Wiseau was thinking creating this movie.

That’s all for right now come back next week for part two of this list. Please leave a comment. I would love to hear back from you guys.
